If you have budget, Logos and Accordance are the best apps for biblical study.
Many schools (including SBTS) offer a free Logos package for their students. (Distant students may not be automatically registered for Logos. You may need to contact academic advising or the Student Success Center for assistance.)
Logos has much more resources than Accordance, and it's mobile app is very good for readings. Logos also has good tools for sermon prep and sermon outline print.
On the other hand, I found Accordance is superb in searching Hebrew and Greek.
Many grammar books distinguish regular waw + perfect from perfect (waw) consecutive. Accordance has this distingtion, but Logos does not.
Logos has different parsing codes in different modules: In the BHS modle, both are parsed simply as the conjunction waw + perfect; in the LHB modle, both are parsed as wƏqātal.
Example 1: וַאֲנִי֙ זָקַ֣נְתִּי וָשַׂ֔בְתִּי (1 Sam 12:2). If you hover the curser over וָשַׂ֔בְתִּי,
In Logos
In the BHS module, it will show you: וְ;conjunction;שׂיב;verb,Qal,perfect, first person, singular
In the LHB module, it will show you: וְ;conjunction;שׂיב;verb,wƏqātal (waw +
perfect),first person,singular;and;gray
In Accordance
Waw and שַׂ֔בְתִּי are separate. If you hover the curser over שַׂ֔בְתִּי, It will show you: שַׂ֔בְתִּי savti שׂיב syv Verb qal perf 1 com sing to be gray-haired, hoary (Predicate)
Example 2: וְעָלָה֩ הָאִ֨ישׁ הַה֤וּא (1 Sam 1:3). If you hover the curser over וְעָלָה֩,
In Logos
In the BHS module, it will show you: וְ;conjunction;עלה;verb,Qal,perfect, third person, masculine, singular
In the LHB module, it will show you: וְ;conjunction;עלה;verb,wƏqātal (waw +
perfect),third person,masculine,singular;and;go up
In Accordance
Waw and וְעָלָה֩ are separate. If you hover the curser over וְעָלָה֩, It will show you: עָלָה֩ ʿalah עלה ʿlh Verb qal perf 3 masc sing consecto go up (Predicate)
Notice how Accordance parses the two example verbs differently, but Logos parse both example verbs in the same way but differently in differnt modules.
There are also free resources available for reading the Hebrew Bible.
The Unique Bible App is available in all platforms. It's Hebrew Bible contains phonology, morphology and syntax database. It can also read the Hebrew Bible for you.
The Bible Hub website also contains the Hebrew Bible with phonology, morphology, and syntax database.
I'm fairly familiar with Accordance, less familiar with Logos, and not familiar with the websites. If you have question about Accordance or Logos, I'd be happy to answer them.
